Four Things
Your Lawn Needs
Each one helps on its own. Together, they are how a thin, patchy lawn fills in and thickens up.
Core Aeration
A core aerator pulls thousands of small plugs of soil out of the lawn. That loosens the hard-packed red clay common around Lynchburg, Forest and Bedford, so air, water and fertilizer can reach the roots. The plugs break down on their own within a couple of weeks.
Overseeding
Fresh seed spread across the lawn in the same visit as the aeration, so it drops into the holes and gets good contact with the soil. It thickens thin areas and fills in bare patches.
Fertilization
Feeding in spring and fall, when your lawn can put it to the best use. A well-fed lawn grows in thicker and greener, and a thick lawn leaves less room for weeds.
Lime
Most soil around Lynchburg runs acidic, and grass in acidic soil cannot get full value from the fertilizer it is given. Lime brings the soil back into balance over the following months, and it can go down any time of year.

- Water lightly and often until the seed sprouts, keeping the surface damp rather than soaked. Once the new grass is up, water less often and more deeply.
- Keep the leaves off it. Fallen leaves sitting on new grass block the light it needs and can smother it. If your trees drop on a newly seeded lawn, our leaf removal keeps it clear.
- Hold off on the first mow until the new grass reaches normal mowing height, and mow it only when it is dry.

Aeration & Seeding Questions
How much does aeration and overseeding cost in Lynchburg, VA?
It mostly comes down to the size of the lawn, plus how much bare ground there is to fill and how easy the lawn is to get around. Get an estimate in about a minute with the instant quote tool on this page, or call 434-207-6404. Either way we confirm what you want done and look at the lawn before we give you a final price, so the number you get is the number you pay.
When is the best time to aerate and overseed in Lynchburg?
Spring and fall, when the weather is mild and new grass has the best chance to take. Of the two, fall is the better bet, so if you are thinking about it, the sooner you call, the better.
Can you aerate and seed my lawn in the spring?
Yes. We aerate, overseed, fertilize and lime in the spring as well as the fall.
What should I do before you aerate?
Flag sprinkler heads, shallow irrigation lines and any buried pet-fence wire, because the tines go a few inches down. If the ground has been dry, water it a day or two ahead. Mow at your normal height beforehand.
What happens to the soil plugs?
They stay on the lawn and break down on their own within a couple of weeks of rain and mowing, working the soil back into the turf.
Do you offer weed control or crabgrass pre-emergent?
Not at the moment. Our lawn program is aeration, seed, fertilizer and lime. A thick, well-fed lawn is also the best long-term defence against weeds, because it leaves them no room to establish.
What areas do you serve for aeration and overseeding?
We serve Lynchburg, Forest, Bedford, and Campbell County, VA. Not sure if we cover your area? Call 434-207-6404 and we'll let you know.
Is the instant quote my final price?
No. It is an estimate from aerial data. Once you book, we confirm what you want done, such as the whole property or just the front, pull the actual measurements, and give you your final price before any work starts. That final number is the number you pay.
How do you measure my lawn online?
We find your property lines in Virginia's public parcel data, then count the grass inside them using public aerial land-cover data from the Chesapeake Bay Program. If the shading looks wrong, tap an area to take it out, or paint to remove or add grass, and we confirm the measurements before any work.
